We highly recommend that your child uses an electric toothbrush as soon as you feel they are old enough to hold a heavier toothbrush. Not only do electric toothbrushes do most of the work for your child, ensuring their teeth are well brushed, they also often come with a built in timer which means they are more likely to brush for the recommended 2 minutes!!
