I recently noticed that my teen son’s old electric toothbrush was in a terrible state and in desperate need of replacement.  He had previously had the Oral-B Vitality Cross Action Plus Electric Toothbrush and had been happy with it.  To be honest he probably doesn’t focus too much on toothbrush performance though!  I normally need to remind him to brush his teeth and I think it is unlikely that he brushes his teeth more than once a day despite my best efforts.  Bearing this in mind, I did not want to spend too much money on a new toothbrush, as he certainly wouldn’t take the time to use any fancy features and this electric toothbrush was on offer at Boots.  The offer price of £20 seems pretty good value especially from a decent brand like Oral B.

I had originally assumed that I had just picked up the same toothbrush as he had had before but actually this isn’t the ‘Plus’ version. They do however look very similar and the handling is the same.  As far as I can see the only difference is that the vitality electric toothbrush comes with only one brush head and the vitality plus, on the other hand, comes with two. The ORAL-B Vitality Cross Action Electric Toothbrush comes with one daily clean brushing mode and a built in 2 minute timer.  Since we bought it, my son has kept it on almost permenant charge and so I couldn’t really comment on how long it holds it charge.  I have read a few other reviews where people have complained about the battery life of this electric toothbrush but they have not specified what they consider poor and the manufacturer does not appear to state how long they would expect it to last.  I’d imagine this is only really a major issue if you are going away for more than a few days and either don’t want to take the charger or won’t have access to a shaver point or adapter?  The one thing that I think is more of a disadvantage is that this toothbrush does not have a battery status indicator. This is not ideal, as I guess the brush will just stop working rather than give you some warning. Overall, I would say that this is a pretty basic electric toothbrush with no bluetooth capability or different cleaning modes. It does however keep your teeth fresh and clean and it is a good alternative to a manual toothbrush if you are on a budget.

Boots offered us a 1 year warranty on this electric toothbrush.  It is available in Black, Pink and Blue, so useful if everyone in the family wants one!  At the time of writing this review, this toothbrush was half price at Boots, at only £20 it is a good value no fuss electric toothbrush.
